Additionally, administrative and support roles including Junior Office Assistant, Junior Bullion Assistant, Junior Hindi Typist, Laboratory Assistant, and Engraver (Sculpture/Metal Works) are also being filled. The online application window opened on 28 March 2026 and will close on 27 April 2026.
Editorial Note: This article is prepared by the Vacancy Vedika Editorial Team based on the official notification (F. No. IGMN-13013/4/2025-HR). While every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, candidates are strongly advised to read the original notification on the official SPMCIL website before applying.
The selection process involves an online Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by a Typing Test (for clerical posts) or Skill Test (for technical posts). Notably, there is no negative marking in the CBT and no interview for any of the posts. Candidates from the SC/ST and PwBD categories are exempted from the application fee but must pay a nominal ₹200 non-refundable service charge.

4. Vacancy Details — 16 Posts Across 4 Mints
A total of 94 vacancies are distributed across 16 post categories and 4 India Government Mint units — IGMM (Mumbai), IGMK (Kolkata), IGMH (Hyderabad), and IGMN (Noida). The posts fall under three broad functional areas: Engineering/Technical Operations (Supervisors and Jr. Technicians), Technical Control/Bullion (Engraver, Lab Assistant, Jr. Bullion Assistant), and Resource Management (Jr. Office Assistant, Jr. Hindi Typist).
Looking at the unit-wise distribution, IGM Mumbai (IGMM) has the largest share with approximately 33 positions, followed by IGM Hyderabad (IGMH) with around 25 positions, IGM Kolkata (IGMK) with 21 positions, and IGM Noida (IGMN) with 15 positions. The majority of vacancies are in the Jr. Technician (Fitter) trade — accounting for 47 out of 94 total posts — making it the single largest recruitment drive within this notification. Candidates should note that the category-wise breakdown includes both fresh vacancies and backlog vacancies from earlier recruitment cycles, and the specific sub-category identification for PwBD reservation varies by post.

Backlog vs Fresh Posts: Several vacancies listed above are backlog posts from earlier recruitment cycles. For example, the SC vacancies under Supervisor (Assay) and some OBC posts under Jr. Office Assistant are carried forward from previous years. The distinction matters because backlog posts may have different reservation sub-category applicability. Check the original notification table for exact backlog/fresh classification against each vacancy.
Pro Tip: Jr. Technician (Fitter) has the highest number of vacancies — 47 posts across all four mints. If you hold an ITI in Fitter Trade, this post offers the best odds of selection given the large intake.
Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
Several posts have been identified as suitable for candidates with benchmark disabilities. The four disability categories recognized under this notification are: (A) Blindness and Low Vision, (B) Deaf and Hard of Hearing, (C) Locomotor Disability (including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy), and (D&E) Autism, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, and Mental Illness (including multiple disabilities from categories A through D, including deaf-blindness).
Persons with a minimum of 40% relevant disability are eligible for reservation benefits. PwBD candidates can apply for any post, including those not specifically reserved for them, but will be considered on general standards of merit for such posts. For the Engraver and Laboratory Assistant posts, specific visual acuity requirements apply — candidates should not have colour blindness or colour vision deficiency and must pass a test for binocular vision.
Horizontal Reservation — Ex-Servicemen & PwBD
Posts reserved for PwBD and Ex-Servicemen will be adjusted through horizontal reservation — meaning the selected candidates will be placed against the UR/EWS/SC/ST/OBC category to which they belong. This is different from vertical reservation where seats are exclusively set aside. Among the 94 vacancies, 5 posts carry PwBD reservation and 7 posts carry Ex-Servicemen reservation, distributed across various categories and mints.
5. Eligibility Criteria — Post-Wise Qualifications
The qualification requirements vary significantly across the 16 posts. They fall into three tiers: Diploma/B.Tech level (Supervisors), Graduation/Degree level (Engraver, Lab Assistant, Jr. Office Assistant, Jr. Bullion Assistant), and ITI Certificate level (all Junior Technician posts). Important: Candidates are advised to apply for only one post that is most suitable to their qualification. If multiple applications are submitted, only the one with the higher Application Number and completed fee payment will be considered. The fee is non-refundable.
6. Age Limit & Category-Wise Relaxation
The age limit varies by post level. All Supervisor posts (S-1 level) have an upper age limit of 30 years, administrative and technical control posts at B-3/B-4 level have a limit of 28 years, and all Junior Technician posts (W-1 level) have a limit of 25 years. The minimum age for all posts is 18 years. Age is calculated as on the closing date of online application — i.e., 27 April 2026.
| Category | Relaxation in Upper Age Limit |
|---|---|
| Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) | 5 years |
| Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) | 3 years |
| Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) — UR/EWS | 10 years |
| PwBD — SC/ST | 15 years |
| PwBD — OBC | 13 years |
| Ex-Servicemen | Service rendered in Armed Forces + additional 3 years (8 years for SC/ST, 6 years for OBC), subject to maximum 50 years |
| Departmental Candidates (SPMCIL employees) | No age bar — if they fulfil qualifications and have at least 3 years of service left on the date of advertisement |
Note on UR Vacancies: Relaxation in the upper age limit is not admissible to SC/ST/OBC candidates applying for unreserved (UR) vacancies. Cumulative age relaxation applies where multiple categories overlap (e.g., OBC + Ex-Serviceman).
7. Salary & Pay Scale
All posts under this recruitment follow the Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) pay pattern applicable to Central Public Sector Enterprises. The pay structure varies across four pay levels depending on the post category.
Pay Structure by Post Level
In addition to basic pay, employees receive allowances including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other benefits as per CPSE rules. Selected candidates are covered under the National Pension System (NPS).
Bond Requirement for Supervisors: Candidates selected for Supervisor (S-1 level) posts will be required to execute a Bond of ₹2,00,000 (Two Lakh Rupees) to serve a minimum period of 3 years. Two sureties are required. Failure to complete the bond period requires the candidate or sureties to indemnify SPMCIL by paying the bond amount.
8. Application Fee & Payment Details
| Category | Fee Amount | Refundable? |
|---|---|---|
| UR / EWS / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | ₹1,000 (inclusive of GST) | No |
| SC / ST / PwBD | ₹200 (non-refundable service charge) | No |
The fee must be paid online only through the integrated payment gateway using Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking, or UPI. No other mode of payment (challan, demand draft, money order) will be accepted. Any bank transaction charges will be borne by the applicant. The fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Warning: After submitting payment information, do NOT press the Back or Refresh button on your browser. Wait for the server confirmation. Pressing Back/Refresh may result in double charges and your application being treated as incomplete.
9. Selection Process — CBT, Typing Test & Skill Test
Selection for all 16 posts is done through an online Computer Based Test (CBT) of objective type. There is no interview for any post. The CBT will be conducted in bilingual form (Hindi & English) except for the English language section. Importantly, there is no negative marking in the CBT.
An online objective-type exam conducted at centres in Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata. The exam structure and subjects vary by post — see the Exam Pattern section below for details. Duration is 120 minutes for all posts.
Candidates who qualify the CBT are called for a typing test. Speed requirement: English @ 40 w.p.m. or Hindi @ 30 w.p.m. on computer. The typing test is qualifying in nature — the final merit is based on CBT performance. For Jr. Hindi Typist, the typing test is conducted at 30 w.p.m. in Hindi.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original certificates (educational qualification, age, caste, disability, experience, NOC). Medical fitness will be assessed by a Medical Officer of the rank of Civil Surgeon at a Government Hospital.
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks in CBT |
|---|---|
| General / EWS | 55% |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 50% |
| SC / ST | 45% |
The final merit list is prepared based on CBT marks. In case of a tie, the candidate older in age gets preference, followed by alphabetical order of names. The CBT for all posts will be conducted in Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Candidates can opt for their preferred exam centre, but SPMCIL reserves the right to allot any centre.
Typing Test — Speed Calculation Formula & Error Criteria
The typing test applies to Jr. Office Assistant, Jr. Bullion Assistant (at B-3 level) and Jr. Hindi Typist. The test duration is 10 minutes, and the required speed is 40 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi on computer. Candidates must select their language preference (Hindi or English) in the online application form itself.
The typing speed is calculated using the following formula:
Net Speed (WPM) = [(Gross Strokes – Error Hits) ÷ 5] ÷ Total Test Time (Minutes)
For example, if a candidate types 2,000 gross strokes in 10 minutes with 250 error strokes — that gives 400 gross words (2000÷5), error words = 50 (250÷5), net errors = 5 WPM (50÷10), giving a net speed of 40 – 5 = 35 WPM.
| Error Type | Classification | Counting Method |
|---|---|---|
| Omission of a word/figure | Full Mistake | 1 error per instance |
| Substitution of a wrong word/figure | Full Mistake | 1 error per instance (except transposition) |
| Addition of a word/figure not in passage | Full Mistake | 1 error per instance |
| Spelling errors (repetition, addition, omission, substitution of letters) | Full Mistake | 1 error per instance |
| Incomplete words (half typed) | Full Mistake | 1 error per instance |
| No space between two words | Half Mistake | 0.5 error per instance |
| Wrong capitalisation (upper/lower case swap) | Half Mistake | 0.5 error per instance |
| Punctuation errors (omitted, added, substituted) | Half Mistake | 0.5 error per instance |
| Transposition of words (e.g., "I hope" typed as "hope I") | Half Mistake | 0.5 error per instance |
| Paragraphic errors (space without Tab key) | Half Mistake | 0.5 error per instance |
The relaxation of error percentage allowed is 5% for UR category and 7% for other categories. Candidates must use the Tab key to begin every new paragraph — giving spaces manually without the Tab key will be treated as a half-mistake for each paragraph.
Pro Tip: Candidates are not required to repeat the passage after completing it once. However, they are allowed to go back and correct their mistakes during the remaining time. Also remember — after every punctuation mark, only ONE space should be inserted.
10. Exam Pattern — Post-Wise CBT Structure
The CBT structure differs based on the post applied for. There are four distinct exam patterns — one for Supervisors, one for Engraver and Laboratory Assistant, one for all Junior Technician trades, and one for Jr. Office Assistant / Jr. Bullion Assistant / Jr. Hindi Typist. Understanding which pattern applies to your post is essential for targeted preparation.
Pattern A — Supervisor (Assay / Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgy)
| Part | Subject | Questions | Max. Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| I | General Arithmetic | 25 | 25 | 120 Minutes |
| Logical Reasoning | 20 | 20 | ||

| 5 | Reasoning Aptitude | 30 | 30 | |
| Total | 150 | 150 | ||
Pro Tip: There is no negative marking across all exam patterns. This means you should attempt every question — even an educated guess cannot hurt your score. Focus your preparation on the Technical/Professional Knowledge section, which carries 70% or more of the total marks for Supervisor and Technician posts.

Candidates need a full-time ITI certificate recognized by NCVT/SCVT in Fitter Trade. No additional NAC certificate or work experience is required for this post, unlike Jr. Technician (Goldsmith) which requires ITI plus one year NAC.
SPMCIL advises candidates to apply for only one post that is most suitable to their qualification. If multiple applications are submitted, only the application with the higher Application Number (with completed fee payment) will be entertained. The fee paid for other applications will not be refunded.
The CBT exam for all posts will be conducted in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. The typing test for Jr. Office Assistant, Jr. Bullion Assistant, and Jr. Hindi Typist will be conducted at Delhi/NCR only. Candidates can select their preferred centre during application, but SPMCIL reserves the right to allot any centre.
The age limit varies by post level: 18–30 years for all Supervisor posts (S-1 level), 18–28 years for Engraver, Jr. Office Assistant, Jr. Bullion Assistant, Jr. Hindi Typist, and Laboratory Assistant (B-3/B-4 level), and 18–25 years for all Junior Technician trades (W-1 level). SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC-NCL gets 3 years.
No, there is no interview for any of the 16 posts in this recruitment. Selection is based entirely on the online Computer Based Test (CBT) marks. For clerical posts (Jr. Office Assistant, Jr. Bullion Assistant, Jr. Hindi Typist), a qualifying typing test is conducted after the CBT, but the final merit is based on CBT performance only.
The minimum qualifying marks are: 55% for General/EWS category, 50% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and 45% for SC/ST category. Merely qualifying does not guarantee selection — candidates must rank sufficiently high in the final merit list based on the number of vacancies.
