1. Indian Bank Apprentice 2026 at a Glance

Indian Bank is engaging 1,500 graduate apprentices for FY 2026-27 under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Graduates of any discipline who passed between 1 April 2022 and 1 November 2026, aged 20 to 28 years, can apply online from 5 November to 25 November 2026 after completing a NATS 2.0 profile. The training runs for 12 months and pays ₹15,000 per month at metro/urban branches or ₹12,300 at rural/semi-urban branches.

Selection is a two-step filter: a 100-question online test (60 minutes, five sections) followed by a Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) in a language of the State/UT you apply for. Merit lists are prepared separately for each State/UT and each reservation category, so your real competition is only the applicants in your own State and category — not all-India.

This is an apprenticeship, not a job. The notification states plainly that Indian Bank has no obligation to offer regular or contractual employment after the 12 months, and you have no obligation to accept one. What you do get is a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) from BOAT (Southern Region), branch-level banking exposure, and a stipend — useful groundwork if you plan to sit for IBPS Clerk, IBPS PO or SBI exams later.

Editorial Note: The Vacancy Vedika editorial team read the full 44-page Indian Bank notification dated 4 November 2026 and compared it clause by clause with the bank's official apprentice notifications for FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26. Figures labelled "our calculation" (for example GST-inclusive fees, birth-date limits and annual stipend totals) are derived by us from the notification's numbers. Always confirm against the official PDF on the Indian Bank careers page before you pay the fee.

Key Takeaway: You can apply for only one State/UT. Your choice of State decides your seat pool, your LLPT language and your exam-centre options — so choose the State before you open the form, not while filling it.

2. What Changed in Indian Bank Apprentice 2026 Compared to 2024 and 2025?

The total stays at 1,500 seats for the third year in a row, but the rules underneath have shifted noticeably. Several popular websites (and AI chatbots trained on them) still repeat last year's terms. The table below is built only from Indian Bank's own notifications for the three cycles.

Three of these changes matter most for your decision. First, 2021 graduates are now out — if you passed in 2021 and missed the last cycle, this one is closed to you. Second, the stipend has shifted toward the Government component paid through NATS, which raises the stakes on keeping your NATS bank details correct (explained in Section 8). Third, the negative-marking clause has disappeared from the text; treat that carefully, as explained in Section 12.

Domain Alert: Indian Bank's notification now uses the domain indianbank.bank.in. Older guides still point to indianbank.in. Use only the .bank.in address or the NATS portal when entering personal or payment details.

3. About Indian Bank — The Training Organisation

Indian Bank is a public sector bank headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was founded in 1907 and absorbed Allahabad Bank in April 2020, which explains its unusually strong branch presence in both Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh — the two States that together hold more than a third of this year's apprentice seats.

Organization Profile

  • Full Name: Indian Bank
  • Type: Public Sector Bank, Government of India
  • Headquarters: Chennai, Tamil Nadu
  • Apprentice Engagement Under: Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992
  • Certifying Body: Board of Apprenticeship Training (Southern Region), via NATS 2.0
  • Notification Signed By: General Manager (HRM / HRD / HR Strategy), Chennai
  • Legal Jurisdiction: Courts in Chennai
  • Website: indianbank.bank.in

Apprentices train during the bank's normal working hours, the same as a Customer Service Associate (CSA), and are governed by the conduct rules of the clerical cadre. In practice that means counter work, account-opening paperwork, KYC and customer handling — the same desk tasks a clerk performs.

4. Indian Bank Apprentice 2026 Important Dates

The online application, form editing and fee payment all close on the same day: 25 November 2026. There is no separate fee-payment grace period.

LLPTAfter the online test result

Indian Bank has not announced the exam date. In the 2025 cycle, applications closed on 7 August and the online test was reported for 28 September — a gap of about seven and a half weeks. If the bank keeps a similar gap, the 2026 test would fall around mid-January 2027. That is our projection from last year's pattern, not an official date, but it is a realistic planning horizon: roughly nine weeks of preparation from today.

5. Indian Bank Apprentice Vacancy 2026: State-Wise and Category-Wise Seats

The 1,500 seats are spread across 30 States and UTs. Uttar Pradesh (285), Tamil Nadu (270) and West Bengal (145) together hold 700 seats — 46.7% of the total. The PwBD columns are a horizontal reservation: those seats sit inside the category counts, not on top of them.

Where Seats Moved Between 2025 and 2026

The national total did not change, but 18 of 30 States/UTs saw their seat count move. The biggest gainers in percentage terms were Uttarakhand (13 → 20, +54%) and Jharkhand (42 → 60, +43%). Chhattisgarh lost the most proportionally (17 → 10, −41%).

Unchanged: Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Puducherry and Tripura. At category level, ST seats rose from 77 to 82 and EWS from 137 to 142, while SC (255 → 252), OBC (351 → 348) and UR (680 → 676) dipped slightly.

Five Patterns in the Table That Affect Your Chances

  • Eight States/UTs have only UR seats: Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura (14 seats in total). SC, ST, OBC and EWS applicants there still get age relaxation and the lower fee, but they compete for the same unreserved seats as everyone else.
  • Chhattisgarh has zero OBC seats this year, and Himachal Pradesh and Puducherry have zero EWS seats.
  • Jharkhand now has the highest ST allocation (15), ahead of Madhya Pradesh (13) and Odisha (9).
  • Delhi's 32 seats are listed against a single district (New Delhi) in Annexure-III, whereas the 2025 list named 11 Delhi districts. Your district preference matters less in Delhi than elsewhere.
  • Seat count alone does not equal easier selection. Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have the most seats, but Indian Bank does not publish applicant counts, so a bigger quota may simply mean a bigger crowd. Pick the State whose language you can genuinely pass in the LLPT and where you can actually live for 12 months on the stipend.
We have prepared a district-level Indian Bank Apprentice Vacancy Breakdown 2026 that maps every Annexure-III district to its State quota and tracks the 2024–2026 seat shifts for all 30 States/UTs.

6. Indian Bank Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2026

You are eligible if you hold a graduate degree in any discipline passed between 1 April 2022 and 1 November 2026, are 20–28 years old on 1 November 2026, have a 100% complete NATS 2.0 profile, and have never done an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act before.

Education

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent recognised by the Central Government
  • Passed on or after 01.04.2022 and not later than 01.11.2026
  • Final result declared on or before 01.11.2026, with proof from the university

Nationality

  • Citizen of India, or
  • Subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came before 1 January 1962
  • Person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries (Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam) — needs a Government of India eligibility certificate

Portal and History

  • Registered on NATS 2.0 with a 100% complete profile
  • No earlier apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act (completed, ongoing or terminated for own fault)
  • Less than 1 year of job experience after graduation

Who Cannot Apply

  • 2021 or earlier graduates — even if you are within the age limit.
  • Final-year students whose result comes after 1 November 2026. Having written your exams is not enough; the result must be declared by the cut-off date.
  • Anyone who has already done an apprenticeship with any employer under the Act, or is doing one now.
  • Graduates with 1 year or more of work experience after completing their qualification.
  • Ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen — the notification excludes them entirely; there is no ex-servicemen quota.

Contradiction to note: The General Instructions section asks candidates to produce an experience certificate at interview. This appears to be standard text carried over from officer recruitments. For apprentices, one year or more of post-qualification experience makes you ineligible, so do not claim experience you would need to prove.

For a post-graduation-year eligibility checker, the full nationality certificate rules and the EWS asset test explained with examples, see our Indian Bank Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2026 guide.

7. Indian Bank Apprentice Age Limit 2026 and Category-Wise Relaxation

A General or EWS candidate must be born between 2 November 1998 and 1 November 2006 (both dates inclusive). Reserved categories get extra years on the upper limit only; the minimum age of 20 applies to everyone.

CategoryRelaxationMaximum AgeBorn On or After (our calculation)
General / EWS—28 years2 November 1998
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)3 years31 years2 November 1995
SC / ST5 years33 years2 November 1993
PwBD (General / EWS)10 years38 years2 November 1988
PwBD (OBC)13 years41 years2 November 1985
PwBD (SC / ST)15 years43 years2 November 1983
Persons affected by 1984 riots (General)5 years33 years2 November 1993
Widow / divorced / judicially separated woman, not remarried — General / EWSUp to age 3535 years2 November 1991
Same — OBCUp to age 3838 years2 November 1988
Same — SC / STUp to age 4040 years2 November 1986

SC, ST and OBC relaxation can be combined with only one of the other two relaxations — PwBD or 1984-riot-affected — not both.

The graduation window binds harder than the age limit. A 41-year-old OBC PwBD candidate is age-eligible, but must also have graduated on or after 1 April 2022. Older candidates who returned to complete a degree recently are eligible; those who graduated earlier are not, whatever their age relaxation.

We break down every relaxation combination, the certificate formats Indian Bank accepts and how the OBC certificate date rule works in our Indian Bank Apprentice Age Limit and Relaxation 2026 explainer.

8. Indian Bank Apprentice Stipend 2026: How Much Will You Get Each Month?

An Indian Bank apprentice receives ₹15,000 per month at a metro or urban branch and ₹12,300 per month at a rural or semi-urban branch. There are no other allowances — no DA, HRA, travel or medical benefit — and no EPF or ESI deduction, because apprentices are trainees, not employees.

Stipend Structure 2026

Metro / Urban — Total
₹15,000 PM
Metro / Urban — Split
₹8,850 Bank + ₹6,150 Govt
Rural / Semi-Urban — Total
₹12,300 PM
Rural / Semi-Urban — Split
₹6,150 Bank + ₹6,150 Govt

The Shift From Bank Money to Government Money

The headline metro figure is unchanged from 2025, but who pays it has changed. The Government share rose by ₹1,650 (from ₹4,500 to ₹6,150, about 37% more), and the Bank's share fell by the same amount at metro branches.

Branch TypeComponent2025-262026-27Change
Metro / UrbanBank (maximum)₹10,500₹8,850−₹1,650
Metro / UrbanGovernment (maximum)₹4,500₹6,150+₹1,650
Metro / UrbanTotal₹15,000₹15,000No change
Rural / Semi-UrbanBank (maximum)₹7,500₹6,150−₹1,350
Rural / Semi-UrbanGovernment (maximum)₹4,500₹6,150+₹1,650
Rural / Semi-UrbanTotal₹12,000₹12,300+₹300

Why this matters to you: the Government component under the national apprenticeship scheme is paid through the NATS 2.0 portal rather than by the branch, so it now makes up 41% of a metro stipend and 50% of a rural one (our calculation), up from 30% and 37.5% last year. The notification itself refers to "the amount paid online through NATS 2.0 portal". If your NATS profile carries a wrong account number or an account that is not Aadhaar-linked, a larger slice of your monthly money is the slice that gets delayed. Check those details before you finish your profile. Notably, ₹6,150 is exactly half of ₹12,300, which is consistent with an equal Government–employer cost-sharing model for the lower stipend tier.

What 12 Months Adds Up To

PostingMonthly12-Month Total (our calculation)
Metro / Urban branch₹15,000₹1,80,000
Rural / Semi-Urban branch₹12,300₹1,47,600

You do not choose your branch category. The bank allots you to a district in your chosen State, and the branch it assigns decides which stipend slab applies. The figures are labelled "maximum" in the notification, and unpaid leave days reduce what you receive.

Want the month-by-month payout timeline, how the NATS Government share reaches your account, and how the stipend compares with SBI and other PSB apprentice schemes? Read our Indian Bank Apprentice Stipend and Salary 2026 breakdown.

9. Training Period, Leave Rules and Exit Penalties

The apprenticeship lasts 12 months of on-the-job training, normally with no extension. You earn one casual leave for each completed month, can take at most four at a time, and must log more than 338 paid days in the year to qualify for the Certificate of Proficiency.

Leave and Working Hours

  • Holidays follow the bank's holiday calendar for your branch.
  • Casual leave is the only leave type — no sick leave or earned leave. Unused leave lapses when the contract ends.
  • Daily hours match those of a Customer Service Associate; overtime is not permitted.
  • New in 2026: more than 338 paid days in 12 months are required for the COP. On our reading, that leaves room for roughly 26 unpaid (loss-of-pay) days across the year before your certificate is at risk. Plan family events and exam travel with this in mind.

What It Costs to Leave Early — and What the Bank Owes You

SituationConsequence
You do not report on the training start dateContract terminated
You choose to quit mid-wayCan leave only at the end of a month; pay one month's stipend (including the BOAT-SR component) as termination cost
You drop out or abscond during a quarterRefund all stipend paid that quarter, including the amount paid through NATS 2.0
You fail to carry out contract termsRefund a training cost set by the Apprenticeship Adviser, and you cannot sign another apprenticeship contract under the Act with any employer
You get a job (with appointment order) or cannot continue on medical grounds (civil-surgeon certificate)Contract ends with no compensation payable by you
Misconduct, disobedience or unsatisfactory performanceBank may terminate after 7 days' notice
Bank breaches the contractBank pays you three months' last-drawn stipend

The "got a job" exemption is the most useful clause for a typical aspirant. If you clear IBPS Clerk or an SSC exam during the year, you can exit by producing the appointment order, without paying the one-month penalty. Leaving for any other reason costs you a month's stipend; disappearing without notice costs a full quarter's.

Assessment and Certificate

During training, Indian Bank conducts a central assessment covering both theory and practical on-the-job work. After you complete the year, BOAT (Southern Region) issues a digital Certificate of Proficiency, downloadable from your NATS 2.0 student login. Apprentices cannot join or form a union, and must keep all customer and bank information confidential during and after training.

10. Indian Bank Apprentice Application Fee 2026

General, OBC and EWS candidates pay ₹800 plus GST; SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay ₹175 plus GST. The fee is non-refundable and must be paid online by 25 November 2026. Women do not get a separate concession.

CategoryBase FeeApprox. Total at 18% GST (our calculation)
General / OBC / EWS₹800₹944
SC / ST / PwBD₹175₹206.50
  • Payment modes: debit card, credit card or internet banking through the integrated gateway. Gateway charges are paid by you.
  • Proof of payment: an e-Receipt is generated on success. No e-Receipt means the payment failed — log in again with your provisional registration number and retry.
  • Multiple applications: only your latest completed application is kept; fees paid on the others are forfeited.
  • No refunds: not for withdrawal, not for ineligibility discovered later, and not adjustable against any other exam.

11. Indian Bank Apprentice Selection Process 2026

Selection runs through an online objective test, a State/UT-wise and category-wise merit list, the Local Language Proficiency Test, an optional interview, document verification and a medical fitness check. Offers are issued digitally through NATS 2.0.

1
NATS 2.0 Registration

Register as a student on the national apprenticeship portal and complete your profile to 100%. Note your Enrolment ID; it is used for all later correspondence.

2
Bank Application and Fee

Fill the Indian Bank application, choose one State/UT and your LLPT language, upload documents and pay the fee by 25 November 2026.

3
Online Test

100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes, across five sections. There is no sectional cut-off, only a minimum aggregate decided by the bank, with 5% relaxation for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates.

4
Merit List and Wait List

Qualified candidates are ranked by aggregate marks within their State/UT and category. Scores from multiple sessions are normalised by the equi-percentile method. A wait list fills any shortfall.

5
Local Language Proficiency Test

Held after the online test at a centre in your chosen State/UT, at your own cost. Failing it means you are not engaged. A Class 8, 10 or 12 marksheet showing you studied that language exempts you.

6
Interview (Bank's Discretion)

The bank may hold an interview or skip it. If held, eligible outstation SC, ST and PwBD candidates not already in government service get second-class rail or bus fare reimbursed.

7
Document Verification and Medical

Original certificates are checked, biometrics are matched, and you must be declared medically fit by the bank's doctor or produce a certificate from a qualified doctor.

8
Digital Contract on NATS 2.0

Selected candidates receive the apprenticeship contract online through NATS 2.0 and report to the allotted branch in one of their preferred districts, subject to vacancy.

The Tie-Break Rule: Older Candidates Rank Higher

If several candidates score exactly the cut-off marks in a State and category, they are ranked by age in descending order — the older candidate gets the seat. A candidate born in 1999 beats one born in 2004 on identical marks.

How District Allotment Works

By default you get first preference for the district where you live on the date of application, and you can name two neighbouring districts — three preferences in total. Naming a district does not guarantee it; the bank can place you anywhere in your chosen State/UT.

For a stage-by-stage timeline, the normalisation method explained in plain language and what happens if you land on the wait list, read our Indian Bank Apprentice Selection Process 2026 guide.

12. Indian Bank Apprentice Exam Pattern 2026 — Is There Negative Marking?

The Indian Bank Apprentice online test has 100 objective questions worth 100 marks, to be answered in a composite 60 minutes — an average of 36 seconds per question. You can move between sections freely; there is no separate timer per section.

2Computer Knowledge1010
3English Language2525
4Quantitative Aptitude2525
5General Awareness (special reference to Banking Industry)2525
Total10010060 minutes

The test is offered in major regional languages chosen by the bank, except English Language, which is in English only. English, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness together carry 75 of the 100 marks.

Negative Marking: What the 2026 Notification Actually Says

Indian Bank's 2024 and 2025 apprentice notifications both stated that ¼ of the question's mark would be deducted for each wrong answer. The 2026 notification contains no such clause; the point that carried it in 2025 now covers the bank's discretion over interviews. Many websites still print the ¼ penalty because they copied last year's text.

Do not assume zero penalty yet: The absence of a clause is not the same as an official "no negative marking" statement. The bank can confirm the rule in the call letter or information handout. Until then, practise as if the ¼-mark penalty applies, and only change your guessing strategy if the exam-day instructions screen confirms there is none.

Starting with the recall-heavy sections (General Awareness, Computer Knowledge) banks about 35 marks of quick answers in 12 minutes, leaving the calculation-heavy Quantitative Aptitude for when you know exactly how much time is left. PwBD candidates registered for compensatory time get 20 extra minutes per hour, making the test 80 minutes for them.

For the topic-wise syllabus of all five sections, the banking-awareness topics that repeat in apprentice exams, and a nine-week study plan built around the expected January window, see our Indian Bank Apprentice Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2026 page.

13. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): State-Wise Languages for 2026

The LLPT checks whether you can read, write, speak and understand one specified language of the State/UT you apply for. You pick one language at the time of application. Candidates who produce a Class 8, 10 or 12 marksheet or certificate showing they studied that language are exempt from the test.

Choosing Your LLPT Language Wisely

  • Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland accept English only, and Manipur and Meghalaya offer English as one option — but these States have just 1–2 seats each.
  • Tripura removed English this year; candidates there now need Bengali or Kokborok.
  • Urdu is an option in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh — useful if Urdu was your school language.
  • If your school marksheet shows the language, attach that evidence at document verification and skip the test entirely. Choose the language that matches your marksheet, not the one you speak at home, if they differ.
  • Travel to the LLPT centre is at your own cost and the bank picks the centre within your State/UT.

14. How to Apply for Indian Bank Apprentice 2026

Applying is a two-portal process: first complete your NATS 2.0 student profile to 100%, then fill the Indian Bank application reached through the NATS portal or the Indian Bank careers page, upload four documents plus a live photo, and pay the fee — all by 25 November 2026.

1
Register on NATS 2.0

Go to nats.education.gov.in, register as a student, and complete every profile field including education and bank details. An incomplete profile blocks the bank application. The NATS student manual covers registration issues.

2
Open the Indian Bank Application

On the NATS portal or the Indian Bank careers page, select Engagement of Apprentices in Indian Bank – 2026 and click Click here for New Registration.

3
Save Your Provisional Registration Number

Enter your name, contact details and email. The system shows a provisional registration number and password, and also sends them by email and SMS. Write them down; you need them to resume or retry payment.

4
Fill Details Using Save and Next

Enter your details exactly as on your certificates. Use Save and Next to work in stages and Validate your details before moving on. Select your single State/UT, three district preferences, LLPT language and, if eligible, scribe or compensatory time.

5
Upload Photo, Signature, Thumb and Declaration

Upload the four scanned files to the specifications in Section 15 and capture a live photo by webcam or by scanning the QR code with your phone. The system will not let you proceed until the photo and signature meet the specifications.

6
Preview and Complete Registration

Use the Preview tab to check every field and image. Click Complete Registration only when everything is correct; no changes are allowed after final submission.

7
Pay the Fee and Save the e-Receipt

Open the Payment tab, pay by card or net banking, and wait for the server response without pressing Back or Refresh. Download the e-Receipt and the application form, and keep them with your registration number. Do not post the printout to the bank.

Pro Tip: Finish your NATS 2.0 profile in the first week. Profile approval, bank-detail corrections and document mismatches are the usual reasons candidates get stuck close to the deadline, and the bank explicitly warns that its site slows down near closing dates.

We have written a screen-by-screen How to Apply for Indian Bank Apprentice 2026 walkthrough covering the NATS 2.0 profile fields, the live-photo QR capture and how to recover a failed payment.

15. Photo, Signature, Thumb Impression and Declaration Upload Specifications

Indian Bank requires four scanned images in JPG/JPEG format plus a live photo. Scan at a minimum of 200 DPI in true colour, crop to the edge, and stay within the file-size range; outside it, the form shows an error and will not move forward.

DocumentDimensionsFile SizeKey Rules
Photograph200 × 230 px (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm)20–50 KBRecent colour passport-style photo, light/white background, no cap or dark glasses; religious headwear allowed if face is visible
Signature140 × 60 px10–20 KBBlack ink on white paper; must not be in capital letters
Left Thumb Impression240 × 240 px at 200 DPI (3 cm × 3 cm)20–50 KBBlack or blue ink on white paper; alternatives in order: right thumb, left-hand finger, right-hand finger, left toe (name the digit used)
Handwritten Declaration800 × 400 px at 200 DPI (10 cm × 5 cm)50–100 KBYour own handwriting, in English, black ink, not in capital letters
Live PhotoCaptured in form—Webcam or phone via QR code; good light, plain background, no mask or sunglasses

The declaration text you must write by hand is: "I, (your name), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required." Candidates who cannot write may have it typed and put their left thumb impression below it.

Rejection Risk: A signature or declaration in CAPITAL LETTERS is rejected outright. Your exam-day signature on the attendance sheet must match the uploaded one, or you can be disqualified — so sign the way you will sign at the centre.

16. Documents Required for Indian Bank Apprentice Verification

Arrange these documents before the online test result. Two of them carry date rules that catch candidates out: the OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued on or after 1 April 2026, and the EWS Income & Asset Certificate must be based on FY 2025-26 income.

DocumentWho Needs ItCondition
Call letter + original photo ID + photocopy of the IDAllName must match the application exactly; ration card and learner's driving licence are not accepted

Income & Asset CertificateEWSBased on FY 2025-26 income, valid for FY 2026-27, obtained by the verification date
Disability certificate / UDID cardPwBDDated on or before 25.11.2026; temporary "likely to improve" certificates do not qualify
Scribe certificate (Appendix I) and undertaking (Appendix II)Candidates using a scribe under the 10.08.2022 OMCertificate uploaded with the application; undertaking given at the exam
Class 8 / 10 / 12 marksheet showing the local languageThose seeking LLPT exemptionMust show the language you opted for
Gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit (original)Candidates who changed their nameLinks the old name to the new one
Medical fitness certificateSelected candidatesFrom the bank's medical practitioner or a qualified doctor, at the bank's discretion

OBC candidates who fall in the creamy layer must apply as General. An older OBC certificate, even if valid elsewhere, does not meet the 1 April 2026 issue-date condition — apply for a fresh one now rather than after the result.

17. Indian Bank Apprentice Exam Centres 2026

The online test is held at centres across India listed in Annexure-I. The list is indicative; the bank can allot a different centre, and requests to change centres are not entertained. Travel and stay are at your own cost and risk.

Centre changes since 2025: Goa moved from Panaji to Mapusa; Haryana dropped Hisar and added Kurukshetra; Punjab dropped Moga; Himachal Pradesh dropped Baddi; Maharashtra added Dhule; Chandigarh is now listed as Mohali only. The notification ties only the LLPT — not the online test — to a centre inside the State/UT you applied for.

18. Common Mistakes That Get Indian Bank Apprentice Applications Rejected

Most rejections in apprentice drives come from form and document errors, not low marks. Each mistake below is tied to a specific clause in the 2026 notification.

19. Medical Fitness, Biometrics and Exam-Day Rules

On test day you need your call letter, an original photo ID and a photocopy of that ID. Your biometric data and photograph are captured before and after the online test, again at verification or interview, and once more when you join the bank.

Accepted Photo ID

PAN card, passport, permanent driving licence, voter ID, bank passbook with photo, Aadhaar or e-Aadhaar with photo, college or university ID, employee ID, or a photo ID issued by a gazetted officer or people's representative. Ration cards and learner's driving licences are not accepted.

Biometric Capture — Practical Tips

  • Remove mehndi, ink or colour from your fingers before exam, verification and joining days.
  • Keep fingers clean and dry; wipe moist fingers before scanning.
  • If your right thumb is injured, tell the centre staff immediately so another finger can be captured.
  • Refusing biometric capture on any occasion can cancel your candidature.

Conduct Rules That Lead to Disqualification

  • Carrying a mobile phone or any communication device into the hall.
  • Impersonation, unfair means, or sharing test content in any form.
  • Using a scribe who answers independently — both may be barred from the bank's exams for two years.
  • Indian Bank says it may compare candidates' right and wrong answer patterns to detect copying, and can withhold results where responses appear shared.

Medical Fitness

Engagement is subject to being declared medically fit by the bank's medical practitioner, or by producing a certificate from a qualified doctor if the bank allows. There are no physical-standard tests for this apprenticeship.

20. Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the most commonly asked questions about Indian Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026. If your question is not answered here, refer to the official notification on the Indian Bank careers page or the NATS 2.0 portal.

Indian Bank Apprentice 2026 — 1,500 Seats | Last Date 25 Nov Apply Online

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The last date to apply, edit the form and pay the fee is 25 November 2026. Registration opened on 5 November 2026. There is no separate grace period for fee payment, so complete your NATS 2.0 profile early.

Indian Bank has announced 1,500 apprentice training seats for FY 2026-27 across 30 States and UTs. Uttar Pradesh (285), Tamil Nadu (270) and West Bengal (145) together hold 700 seats, or 46.7% of the total.

The 2026 notification does not mention negative marking, unlike the 2024 and 2025 notifications, which deducted ¼ mark per wrong answer. The bank has not confirmed zero penalty either, so practise as if ¼ negative marking applies until the call letter or exam-day instructions say otherwise.

Apprentices get ₹15,000 per month at metro/urban branches (₹8,850 Bank + ₹6,150 Government) and ₹12,300 per month at rural/semi-urban branches (₹6,150 Bank + ₹6,150 Government). No other allowances are paid. The Government share is paid through the NATS 2.0 portal.

No. Only candidates who passed graduation between 1 April 2022 and 1 November 2026 are eligible, and the result must be declared by 1 November 2026. The 2025 cycle accepted 2021 graduates, but this cycle does not.

The age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 1 November 2026, meaning General/EWS candidates must be born between 2 November 1998 and 1 November 2006. Upper age relaxation is 3 years for OBC (NCL), 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for PwBD.

General, OBC and EWS candidates pay ₹800 + GST (about ₹944), and SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay ₹175 + GST (about ₹206.50). The fee is non-refundable and payable online only by debit card, credit card or net banking.

The online test has 100 questions for 100 marks in a composite 60 minutes: Reasoning (15), Computer Knowledge (10), English (25), Quantitative Aptitude (25) and General Awareness with banking focus (25). There is no sectional cut-off, only a minimum aggregate set by the bank.

The Local Language Proficiency Test checks reading, writing, speaking and understanding of one language of the State/UT you apply for. It is held after the online test, and failing it means you are not engaged. A Class 8, 10 or 12 marksheet showing you studied that language exempts you.

No. You can apply for only one State/UT. If you submit multiple applications, only the latest completed one is kept and fees paid for the others are forfeited. Merit lists are prepared State/UT-wise and category-wise.

No. The notification states that Indian Bank has no obligation to offer regular or contractual employment after the 12-month apprenticeship. Successful apprentices receive a digital Certificate of Proficiency from BOAT (Southern Region) through NATS 2.0, provided they have more than 338 paid days in the year.

You can leave only at the end of a month and must pay one month's stipend as termination cost. If you leave because you got a job (with an appointment order) or on medical grounds certified by a civil surgeon, no compensation is payable. Absconding during a quarter requires refunding that quarter's stipend.
